Return of the hatch.
In case you haven't heard, Acura is reviving the Integra with a fresh fifth generation for the 2023 model year, promising all the same sport-compact goodness that solidified preceding generations as true import tuner classics. Now, the Japanese automaker has teased the rear end of the upcoming 2023 Acura Integra, showing off a shapely five-door liftback body.
The new teaser reveals sharp taillights with swooping inner signature lighting, while a subtle spoiler element is attached to the edge of the hatch. The roofline looks sleek, falling into the rear of the vehicle at a gentle angle with flowing lines. An Acura badge is centrally located between the taillights, while black trim adorns the slim window line. The rear fenders also appear to have a significant flair. Just underneath the passenger-side taillight, we spot the Integra nameplate embossed in the upper portion of the rear bumper.
The new rear three-quarter image follows the release of an earlier teaser showing the 2023 Acura Integra's headlight. Like the taillights, the new Integra's headlights sport a slim design with prominent inner signature lighting. The outer edge of the wheel reveals a split-spoke design and low-profile tire, while the central intake gets a geometric mesh grille. The Integra nameplate is once again embossed into the bumper.
Naturally, it's possible Acura will reveal some sort of concept prior to the debut of the full-fledged production vehicle, which means many of these design elements may be changed by the time we see what will turn up at dealers.
While fans are clamoring for the return of the two-door 'Teggy, it's uncertain at this time if Acura will follow through. A coupe model isn't off the table, so at least there's that. And honestly, at this point, we're just happy the Acura Integra nameplate won't be revived as some bland crossover SUV.
What's more, rumor has it Acura will offer a Type S performance version of the new 2023 Integra, possibly running the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder cradled by the Civic Type R. As for the standard version, a turbocharged 1.5-liter seems likely.
Stay tuned, as there's sure to be more coverage of the 2023 Acura Integra between now and when it goes on sale next year.
