2023 Nissan Z Arrives With Twin-Turbo V6

Say hello to the seventh generation.

The 2023 Nissan Z just made splashdown, dropping in with a brand-new seventh generation. The new Z arrives as a replacement for the aging sixth-gen Z34 370Z, which debuted for the 2009 model year. Notably, the new 2023 Nissan Z forgoes the numeric nomenclature of previous generations.

First things first. The new 2023 Nissan Z is motivated by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 driving the rear axle with 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. Notably, this is the same VR30DDTT V6 as can be found in the Infiniti Red Sport 400. Boost pressure is measured at 14.7 psi.

Harnessing the go is either a six-speed manual, or a new nine-speed automatic. The latter gets aluminum paddle shifters, while the former gets an Exedy high-performance clutch and carbon-fiber driveshaft, plus automatic rev matching on downshifts.

Outside, we find style inspired by the Nissan Z Proto concept revealed last year, with a characteristically long hood line and cab-back proportions, plus a low, wide stance that emphasizes the rear-wheel drive goodness in store. Under the skin, the 2023 Nissan Z rides on a modified version of the 370Z's FM platform.

Moving inside, the 2023 Nissan Z keeps it traditional with a two-seater layout. Infotainment includes a 12.3-inch display, plus optional leather upholstery and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.

The 2023 Nissan Z is offered in two trims, including Sport and Performance, as well as a special edition Proto Spec limited to 240 units. Look for the next-gen Z to launch in the U.S. next year, starting at $40,000.
