Drifting Pro Completes Blind Run After Hood Failure

Use the force…

Drifting is hard, but championship-winning driver Tor Arne Kvia makes it look easy, even when blinded by his own hood.

Kvia was sitting pretty at the Drift Masters European Championship event in Austria over the summer, qualifying first with a very impressive score of 97 on day one. However, it was Kvia's run the second day of the event that provided some truly spectacular driving for the fans.

Seconds into the run, the hood on Kvia's Nissan S13 flew up onto the windshield, completely blocking his forward view. While most drivers would lift, Kvia decided to keep the show rolling, burying his foot and executing a flawless slideshow.

Granted, a lot of drifting is done through the side windows, but even still, Kvia's skills are undeniable . Simply completing the run while blinded by the windshield is immensely impressive. Executing a flawless line in conditions like these is nothing short of astonishing.

Unfortunately, Kvia was awarded an automatic zero for his efforts, as any sort of hood failure or trunk failure designates the run as null and void. Kvia would go on to qualify P2 with 96 points, but was forced to exit in the Top 32 with gearbox failure.

Nevertheless, the Norwegian's blind run and flawless execution were definitely a top highlight of the event, and surely netted him plenty of new fans. Watch it all go down in the video below:
