Skylines, S15 Silvias, Chasers among those sold.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury recently auctioned off a whole fleet of stripped-down JDM cars, lumping together 20 forbidden-fruit-rides from the Land of the Rising Sun in a single lot, including various chassis, engine, and related parts.
As spotted by The Drive, the JDM fleet was illegally shipped to the U.S. and seized, with the rides in various states of disassembly, likely with the intention of being rebuilt after arriving stateside. Either way, there's some seriously tasty tuner rides included in the lot, such as an R34 Nissan GT-R, a C34 Nissan Stagea wagon, a Toyota Chaser Touring V, a Toyota Aristo V300, and no less than seven S15 Nissan Silvias, at least one of which is a Spec R V Package model.
Obviously, the machines aren't drivable, but with a little love (and a few body pieces) they look like they could make for one helluva JDM dream garage. However, there's one catch with the auction - whoever places the winning bid must immediately export the fleet out of the U.S. As it stands, these JDM vehicles still fall short of the 25-year rule, which only allows vehicles built for international markets into the U.S. after 25 years have passed since they were first produced.
Nevertheless, someone with the means to piece these rides back together (and an offshore garage big enough to house them) undoubtedly walked away with a steal. The final price for all 20 cars, plus the related engines and parts, was a mere $148,000.
