GR Supra GT4 50 Edition Marks Success Of Toyota's Customer Racing Program

Just six examples slated for production.

Back in 2020, Toyota Gazoo Racing, the automaker's motorsports arm, launched the GR Supra GT4, offered as a stripped-down, tuned-up, track-ready variant of the fifth-generation nameplate for customer racing teams. In the two years since, 49 examples of the GR Supra GT4 have been sold, with the lithe little machine showing success in GT racing series around the world, including Europe, America, and the U.K. Now, in recognition of that success, Toyota has introduced the GR Supra GT4 50 Edition, a limited-run variant of the race car outfitted with a selection of unique equipment.

Outside, the GR Supra GT4 50 Edition is adorned in a new red and gold livery, with special edition logos applied to the fenders and roof. The 50 Edition logo can also be found on the computer's menu navigation button, as well as a badge on the carbon fiber dash. To protect the exterior, the special edition includes an exclusive indoor car cover.

Further updates were made with a new passenger's seat and corresponding carbon fiber footrest, allowing GR Supra GT4 50 Edition owners to take a friend for a spin on the track. The seats get some embroidered logos as well.

The rest of the race car is unchanged from the standard GR Supra GT4, including the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, which is tuned to produce 430 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque - a bit more than the road car's 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. The race car is also much lighter, weighing just 2,976 pounds, while the road car can weigh upwards of 3,350 pounds, depending on configuration. A seven-speed paddle shift transmission sends output to the rear wheels.

The GR Supra GT4 is also outfitted with carbon fiber aero, KW adjustable racing dampers, and large Brembo brakes, with six-piston calipers and 15.6-inch rotors in front, plus four-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors in the rear. To put the power down, the GR Supra GT4 runs Pirelli racing rubber, which is wrapped around 18-inch OZ Racing wheels.

Just six examples of the GR Supra GT4 50 Edition will be produced, with the allotment divided three ways between Europe, Asia, and North America. Pricing is set at 175,000 euros, or about $200,000 at current exchange rates (2/24/2022).
