Two turbos, 1,200 horsepower!
Liberty Walk is anything but subtle. Founded in 2008 by Wataru Kato, Liberty Walk made a name for itself fashioning some of the most outrageous body kits on the market, serving a broad range of makes and models, from Japanese tuner cars, to European exotics, to domestic muscle machines, and beyond. As such, it comes as surprise that Liberty Walk cranked it straight to 11 with its first dedicated Formula Drift Japan race car, giving birth to this - the Super Silhouette Nissan Silvia S15.
Let's start with that supremely aggressive exterior. As expected, the Super Silhouette Nissan Silvia S15 hits the track in a full Liberty Walk widebody kit, which the tuner developed specifically for its race car. The design gives a nod to the silhouette Nissan racers that competed in the '80s, the same performance machines that provide the inspiration for the bosozoku/kaido racer scene popular in Japan today.
To that end, the Super Silhouette Nissan Silvia S15 was fitted with a massive front splitter and squared-off rear end, plus a large rear wing, hood vents, and extended rear diffuser. The new fenders add serious width, housing Liberty Walk's own five-spoke wheels, sized at 18 inches by 9.5-inch in front and 18 inches by 11 inches in the rear. Wrapping the rollers are Fivex tires sized at 265/35R18 and 285/35R18, respectively.
We think it looks great, and for those readers that would love to add the same kit to their Nissan, Liberty Walk is selling it for $25,135. Hey, you gotta pay to play, and Liberty Walk definitely likes to play.
Making this Nissan Silvia S15 move is a Mazda 26B four-rotor engine, which gets stuffed with 19 psi of boost from two Garrett turbochargers. Peak output is estimated at 1,200 horsepower, which is about what you need in the cutthroat world of Formula Drift Japan. As for the soundtrack, well…
All that go is sent rearwards by way of a Holinger Engineering 6-speed sequential transmission, which feeds a Winters Performance limited-slip diff. Giving it handles are KW Clubsport three-way coilovers and CSD brakes.
It's hard not to be impressed by the Liberty Walk Super Silhouette Nissan Silvia S15. However, maximum assault on the senses was only half the goal, with victory in Formula Drift Japan being the real objective. To that end, the tuner hired veteran driver Hibino Tetsuya for the S15's debut season, securing third overall in 2021. Again, impressive stuff, but something tells us Liberty Walk won't be satisfied until it's standing at the top.
