Less than 5,500 miles on the clock.
In case you weren't paying attention, prices for classic Japanese tuner cars are skyrocketing. Just a few examples would include the 2000 Acura Integra Type R that sold for $112,112 late last month, or the 1995 Toyota Supra that sold for $201,000 over the summer. Now, we're checking out this low-mileage 2008 Honda S2000 Club Racer that just exchanged hands for an impressive $122,500.
Per a listing on Bring A Trailer, this 2008 Honda S2000 Club Racer has a mere 5,500 miles on it, and looks to be in pristine condition, save for a few very minor paint scuffs. It's also quite rare, as although Honda was originally set to build 1,400 units for the U.S. market, just 700 were produced. Throw in all the go-faster bits unique to the limited-run Club Racer models, and that six-figure price tag starts to make a little more sense.
Outside, this 2008 Honda S2000 Club Racer is covered Rio Yellow Pearl paint, making it one 140 examples produced in that specific color. It's also running 17-inch five-spoke wheels with Bridgestone Potenza RE71R tires (presumably the original rubber), while the roof is a Club Racer-specific removable hardtop (finished in black). Fully functional aero upgrades, once again specific to the Club Racer model, round out the exterior.
Inside, we find the classic Honda S2000 interior, which is draped in yellow and black upholstery with a mix of cloth and Alcantara. An aluminum shift knob aids in cog swaps.
Providing the screaming high-rev soundtrack is Honda's F22C1 gasoline engine, a naturally aspirated 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder with VTEC. Factory output ratings are set at 237 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 162 pound-feet of torque at 6,800 rpm, all of which is sent rearwards through a six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential.
As the Club Racer model, this 2008 Honda S2000 also comes equipped with handling upgrades like a rear chassis brace, higher-rate springs, stiffer anti-roll bars and a quicker 13.8 steering ratio.
Included with the sale was full documentation, such as the original window sticker, the manufacturer's literature, and a squeaky clean vehicle history.
Take a closer look at the window sticker, and you'll find this 2008 Honda S2000 Club Racer was listed at the dealer for $37,935, making the final selling price of $122,500 at auction that much more eye-widening. But, like we've said on more than one occasion, this is the new baseline for highly desirable low-mile Japanese classics. Bonus points for a manual transmission and rarity, of course.
