Six hundred thirty turbocharged horsepower on tap.
German-based tuner Manhart Performance recently unveiled this - the Manhart MH2 630, an upgraded, first-generation F87 BMW M2 Competition optimized for impressive track performance.
Of course, that latter bit should be pretty obvious, given the way this thing looks. The exterior of the new Manhart BMW M2 was enhanced with new aero bits from M Performance, including a front spoiler, side skirts, and rear diffuser, all of which are made from carbon fiber. In back is a sizable M235i Racing wing, while up front is a Schmiedmann aluminum hood. Put it all together, and it looks nice, especially with those gold decals and black paint.
While we like the look, the real treat is under the hood, where Manhart coaxed additional ponies from the BMW M2's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder S55 engine. The most important part is the new Turbo Performance Kit, which boosts the 'six from a factory-rated 410 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque to a heady 630 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque - quite the sum for the compact BMW.
Complementary parts include a CSF intercooler, cat-less downpipes, and a stainless steel exhaust with valve control terminating in quad carbon fiber exhaust tips.
Keeping it all under control is a set of three-way adjustable KW Clubsport coilovers, while stopping power is strengthened via M4 GT4 front brakes, including six-piston calipers and 14.96-inch ceramic discs. Michelin rubber provides the grip, sized at 265/35 and 295/30, wrapping 19-inch wheels.
Step inside, and the track-ready motif for Manhart's new BMW M2 looks complete with a full roll cage, plus Schroth Motorsport harnesses and Recaro Sportster CS seats. Further carbon was added for the shift paddles and trim, while an Awron auxiliary display and Manhart floor mats finish it off.
