Z34 bones, S30 looks.
The Tokyo Auto Salon is just around the corner, and that means automakers and tuners are gearing up to release a bevy of new debuts. Among them is this fresh Nissan Z concept, which now sports a full S30 Fairlady 240Z exterior styling treatment.
This one-off Nissan Z concept was created by students from several Nissan Automobile Colleges in Japan, and is based on the sixth-generation 370Z. The concept is dubbed the "340Z," combining the Z34 code of the base vehicle with the S30 code of the styling inspiration.
The original S30 Nissan Z was undoubtedly an attractive piece of design, and the styling holds up well in 2022. It also looks quite nice when applied to the more modern platform that is the 370Z.
Up front, we spot familiar rounded fenders and headlamps, as well as a squared-off front fascia and a deep lower air dam, plus the requisite chrome bumper. Highlights in the profile include a matte black lower stripe, five-spoke 18-inch Work wheels, and blacked-out trim for the window and door handle.
The silhouette continues into a new rear fascia with a rectangular tail section. The rear end also sports quad exhaust tips, more chrome, and classic two-tiered taillights, not to mention a tasty little trunk lip. The whole thing is slathered in classic 918 Orange paint.
Unfortunately, no shots of the interior were provided, but word has it the builders applied the old-school treatment to the cabin as well.
As a reminder, the Nissan 370Z is equipped with the naturally aspirated 3.7-liter VQ37VHR, rated at 332 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 269 pound-feet of torque at 5,200 rpm. Alas, this particular example is fitted with the seven-speed automatic transmission, rather than the six-speed manual.
The Tokyo Auto Salon is scheduled to kick off late next week, so expect a flood of four-wheeled Japanese goodness headed your way shortly. Stay tuned.
