Look for the debut in Monterey.
Honda reintroduced the legendary Acura NSX in 2015 with an all-new second-generation packing high-tech hybrid power and cutting-edge speed goodies from tip to tail. Unfortunately, sales have been, well, terrible, and thus, the NSX nameplate will once again be put on a shelf following the end of the 2022 model year. However, before it departs, the second-gen supercar will sing one last high note with the 2022 Acura NSX Type S.
As befitting the name, the 2022 Acura NSX Type S will sport an “enhanced version” of the standard model’s twin-turbo hybrid 3.5-liter V6, although details of said enhancement are still under wraps. For reference, specs for the standard model include 573 horsepower, 476 pound-feet of torque, a run from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, and a top speed of 191 mph. Output is harnessed by a nine-speed DCT and put to the pavement with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
In addition to more poke, it appears as though the new 2022 Acura NSX Type S will also boast new body components, including a fresh front fascia, a revised rear diffuser, and an updated rear spoiler. Also expect sharper handling, possibly with weight reduction and/or suspension changes.
Acura is framing the 2022 NSX Type S as a high-end collectible in the same vein as the 1999 NSX Zanardi or NSX-R. Production will be limited to 350 units worldwide, 300 of which are earmarked for the U.S. market.
The 2022 Acura NSX Type S will debut on August 12th during Monterey Car Week, at which time more specs and info will be release. Orders open in conjunction with the reveal.
